Whenever I hear about the garbage talked on (and in) Oprah the media machine I end up fuming. What this woman and her team need is some kind of editorial control, which they obviously lack, preferably from a person with at least a high school diploma and maybe some time in a science or biology class. They could point out the myriad fatal flaws in the arguments the show, guests, publications, and website present.

The fact that Oprah would spread this disinformation without through checking into the science is irresponsible. I have some of that "science" Jenny is using at home, too: his name is Joey. He was born autistic. I keep my boys vaccinated, protected from potentially fatal diseases (which have claimed lives in our area!) such as measles, meningitis, and whooping cough (which, given Joey's history of respiratory distress, would probably be fatal to him).

Use your influence wisely and responsibly. I honestly wonder if she hasn't embraced Jenny because the audience Jenny appeals to is desperate, and will spend money to try to cure their kids- lots of money. It is a tappable market for products and "services." You can sell more ads if you have an audience that will buy the woo.

What science is there exactly that proves vaccines do not cause autism? Doctors are fairly certain that an MMRV manufactured by Merck ProQuad caused a brain injury in my son, in November Merck, themselves, filed a report with VAERS their vaccine ProQuad caused two deaths. The injury to my son caused my son to present with characteristics of autism. Do vaccines alone cause autism, I don't believe it. Not by alone, there has to be another component. It's like saying does a gun cause death when actually it doesn't, the bullet that is fired from that gun is what causes the death. The gun is an instrument as are vaccines.

It is entirely possible that my son's injury was caused by some genetic predisposition that caused his immune system to fail when it was attacked by the measles. But what interests me is why my son presented with characteristics of autism? What area of his brain was injured and is that same injury found in other children with autism? If so, and vaccines aren't causing all these cases of autism, then what triggers it?

But seriously, show me the studies proving there is no link. I've read 14 of them and they prove nothing.

Even if the link between autism and vaccinations was found in these studies it would never be reported. The government prefers to have families deal with an autistic child rather than deal with widespread infections and diseases that might result from people not getting vaccines. When I was in school we were always told that there was no link between autism and vaccines and the people who believed this were nuts and endangering society by encouraging parents to not vaccinate their children.
Now as an adult who thinks for herself I'm sure there is a link and that it needs to be studied more.
